Miss McCain, age 20, was among the victims in the shooting at Blacksburg. She was a resident of Hampton, Virginia but had ties to Shawnee, Oklahoma. Lauren was also homeschooler who enjoyed studying languages.
Her parents released this touching statement to the media: "We grieve over our great loss, and yet find peace in the reality that God is worthy of our trust and we are sustained in our sorrow by that truth."

The Israeli mechanics and engineering lecturer was shot to death, 'but all the students lived - because of him,' Virginia Tech student Asael Arad - also an Israeli - told Army Radio."
