The Homeschooling Revolution

Girlish Not Churlish

Josefina and Molly Look-Alikes, Come on Down. The Hands-on Museum is looking for local (south central Penn.) gals to model "American Girl" fashions, based on the popular dolls. Fifty models will be selected for four shows in November. Details here.

The Dignity Factor. Mona Charen writes about Wendy Shalit's new book, "Girls Gone Mild." The author doesn't care for the tarted-up "Bratz dolls." (Barbie-lite?) Wendy shared (via email) that a few of the "high-standard" gals she interviewed for the book were homeschooled during the early part of their schooling.

Ruminating Ain't Liberating. Henry discovered a study that argues that chick chat isn't a healthy lifestyle choice for flighty teens. States Amanda Rose, "Co-rumination also may lead to depression and anxiety because it takes so much time - time that could be used to engage in other, more positive activities that could help distract youth from their problems."

Stylish Statement. For older girls who seek relief from high property taxes and unfair assessments. Here's more about this movement.
