The Homeschooling Revolution

January 08, 2007

"Attention K-Mart shoppers, there's a blue light special on . . ."

Remember how fun those bargains were for the shoppers? Well, this is the educational equivalent of a 'blue light special,' but it is gratis. It's also tailor-made for lifelong learners and for homeschoolers and comes courtesy of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology: "By the end of this year, the contents of all 1,800 courses taught at one of the world's most prestigious universities will be available online to anyone in the world, anywhere in the world. Learners won't have to register for the classes, and everyone is accepted."

Here's the school's Open Course Ware site. Toss in "Inventions and Patents" or "Chinese I" into the spring curriculum.
