Those Trendy Statist Libraries

When I read articles like this one (which future rep. Judy A. passed along) - about the trashy and depressing fiction being circulated in America's public libraries - it makes me wish that a) a philanthropist would donate money or b) an energetic activist would raise money to c) start a privately-funded kiddie library that's non-ALA approved. Getting government out of the business of libraries is long overdue. Yes, I realize that's a fringe position even among conservatives and libertarians, but maybe someone, somewhere could take a leap of faith and start an alternative library in their community.

Who knew local libraries would be an important federal issue? In the Sooner State, four congressional candidates have issued a press release rebuking a fellow candidate for inflating his role in a controversy involving the infamous King & King story. Only in Oklahoma.

Update: Just discovered the Safe Libraries site.
