Taylor Hicks is the New American Idol and Other Stuff
*Adore it, deplore it, or ignore it, there's no denying that American Idol is a force of nature. Ryan Seacrest, the show's host, had this to say about last night's finale: "More than 63 million votes were cast, more than any president in the history of our country has received."
*I've added several new links. Let's see if I can remember them all - APM Formulators: Biblical Health Care, Education and Homeschool News, Will Grigg, Homeschool Cafe, K-Dad, Let a Woman Learn, Peer Review/FL., and OK. Libertarian Party. Yup. I did forget two someones - Lindafay and Tiffany.
*Darrell Dow, newbie homeschool parent, has written a barbed, yet sensible, piece about the federal Marriage Protection Act.
*The Ironman and I have befriended a zippy student named Wen who works at our favorite take-out restaurant. She's always game to hear offbeat ideas (e.g. "Five Reasons to Skip College"), and we are always happy to oblige.
*The other day, we got to talking, while waiting for the Szeuchan, about folks who ink Asian characters on their body. Wen, who is Chinese, admitted to being startled at the tats Americans proudly preen. This article humorously explains why Wen is puzzled.
*A very odd legal argument in a very sad custody battle. The mother says that she been forbidden to continue homeschooling her children. Family law is, admittedly, for those who are tough and compassionate.
