The Homeschooling Revolution

May 26, 2006

Just Wondering

Southern Baptists used to boycott Disney for pursuing an "anti-Christian, anti-family direction."

But many So. Bapt. leaders, like Dr. Tony Beam, are loathe to boycott public education for those same reasons. Even claiming that Christians who leave the public schools are engaging in an educational "cut and run" strategy.

As Tony B. puts it, "Should Christians withdraw completely from the culture because the culture is bad or should we remain and work redemptively to bring about change?"

(No plan of redemption for Mickey and friends, eh?)

Since Dr. Beam likes Goliath-style challenges, here's one for him and his like-minded brethren.

The Bay State's cutting-edge, fiscally-careless legislature is fixin' to pass a piece of legislation that is going to institutionalize these so-called 'values of Disney' in the g-schools in a Las Vegasy way.

Boycott-worthy, or another opportunity to 'work redemptively to bring about change?'

Just wondering.
