Judy A. sent this e-mail which is being circulated (and I slightly edited): "Florida House Bill 999 (found here) will be heard Tuesday, April 11, 2006, 9:30 AM before the House - Education Appropriations Committee.
The bill is asking for $600,000 in taypayer dollars to fund the psychiatric Signs of Suicide 'prevention' pilot in various Florida high schools. After the pilot program, they intend to screen all kids in the state.
Please contact each and every representative of the committee and tell them 'Vote NO' on House Bill 999. We absolutely must increase the communication, as this bill has already been approved by two previous committees; our efforts have not been enough to date. Include in the subject line: NO on HB 999."
It's hardly the entire list, but here's a couple of names to contact:
House - Education Appropriations Committee Representatives Pickens, Joe H. (R)Chair (850) 488-0665 Joe.Pickens@myfloridahouse.gov
Rivera, David (R)Vice Chair (850) 488-7897 David.Rivera@myfloridahouse.gov
