The Homeschooling Revolution

February 14, 2006

Update 88: A 'muchas gracias' to the bloggers who linked to a Cato column I wrote in 2000. And I have no idea why the Cato Institute chose to resurrect it, yesterday, but maybe Hillary will complain. Teehee.

Update 89: Happy Heart Day everybody. My valentine is in Lancaster, PA. (Life!) Today's book recommendation: Men and Marriage by George Gilder, because it's a powerful, positive, and pleasurable reminder of why men need women to 'civilize' them.

Update 90: Mama, Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys (and drive under the influence). OSU basketball Coach Eddie Sutton at the wheel: "Witnesses described Sutton's sports utility vehicle as driving dangerously and erratically, forcing cars to swerve out of the way before he hit another SUV from behind at about 60 mph, according to police reports released Monday." This ugly incident abruptly put a halt to his coaching career. But the grim Sean Sutton formally takes over for dad. How clubby.

Update 91: It's the Valentine's Day Carnival of Homeschooling! Number 7 is hosted at Bev's site.

Update 91: Been tagged by Doc Cobranchi. Silly game, but I'll play.

Four jobs I've had:
Smiling receptionist at a seedy gym
Radio talk show hostess (I stunk.)
Registrar of voters board member
Part of a paint crew

Four movies I can watch over and over again (well, watch twice, at least):

Sister Act (1 or 2)
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington

Four places I've lived:
St. Joseph, Michigan
Tifton, Georgia
The Bronx
Bellingham, Washington

Four TV shows I love enjoy:

(I cross-stitch during the time-outs.)

Four places I've vacationed:

Four of my favorite dishes:
Bistec Empanizado Con Tostones (breaded steak with fried plaintains)
House Special Chicken from Panda East
Angel hair with pesto, garlic, olive oil, and sun-ripened tomatoes
a BLT

Four blogs (and sites) I visit (almost) daily:
Oak Brook Yahoo site number 1
Oak Brook Yahoo site number 2
Several of the folks I link to who kindly, daily update their blogs
Drudge

Four places I would rather be right now:
With my hubby in Penn.
White Mountains of New Hampshire
Turks and Caicos Islands
Highlands of Scotland

Four bloggers I am tagging:

Lincoln (but check with your dad)
Steve (you're a big boy)
Merrie (via Justin's blog or your Mom's blog)

Update 92: Sharp post, from a lawyer, about what it means to be a conservative in 2006. If that is the new standard - no thanks.
