The Homeschooling Revolution

January 10, 2006

Update 1: This article - from the Tulsa World about a multi-million dollar program which provides "free" college tuition to "needy" students - contained the comments of a quadruple S:*

"Sen. Johnnie Crutchfield, D-Ardmore, questions how home-schoolers could fulfill one of the key requirements for the program, that they do not commit criminal or delinquent acts.

'OHLAP is a wonderful program, probably one of the best things we've ever done in the Legislature," he said. 'But there's no way to know the disciplinary conduct of a child who is being home-schooled.'

The senator said whether a student can get along in school is an indicator of what kind of citizen that student will be."

Oy vey! Spoken like a true fogey. Maybe I should mail Johnnie C. a scuffed copy of the 'Revolution.

*Sooner State Socialist Senator

Update 2: A Discovery Channel show called "Dirty Jobs" might make for an educational watch.

Update 3: The Ironman, wearing a black baseball cap, makes a cameo in this news video. La invasion presses on thanks to such skewed reporting.

Update 4: Jill Carroll, the freelance reporter who was abducted in Baghdad, is a grad of UMass/Amherst's journalism school.

Update 5: The owner of Hawaiian Don's, an OKC bar, called this afternoon to offer to sell this teetotaler his hot tamale ticket, below market value, to tonight's Pistons game (as well as another ticket). Woohoo!! Thank you, Mr. Cornett. ok, back to torts.

Update 6: Herbie the Husker beat Sam the Minuteman in the "Mascot of the Year" contest. The mighty minuteman came in second. I'm demanding a recount. (Hey, Sam bears more than a passing resemblance to Mass. governor Mitt Romney.)

Update 7: ESPN highlights of the game are here, including Arroyo's tantrum. Buh-bye Carlos. Loud applause for Rip.

Update 8: Week 2 of the Carnival of Homeschooling is up. Week 1 of the Carnival of Unschooling is also up.

Update 9: The finalists in the BoB homeschool/education category have been posted. Congrats to these bloggers. (But that intro. to the category is tacky.)

Update 10: Pastor Chuck Baldwin's graduation speech to west Florida home scholars is here.
