The Homeschooling Revolution

October 07, 2005

Their Plan

Homeschooling Family-to-Family (HFTF), created by the Exodus Mandate, a Christian organization, has a specific mission: "Homeschooling Family-to-Family encourages experienced homeschoolers to "share their heart for homeschooling" by offering to mentor families they already know into homeschooling. HFTF's goal is to bring over one million new children into homeschooling over a five to seven year period, thereby strengthening state and local homeschooling organizations."

Like a skilled pundit, Bruce Shortt (read the piece) has a flair for the barbed quip, and the mentor angle has merit. Indeed, many families are persuaded to pursue home education through the efforts of homeschool 'evangelists' and 'disciple-makers.' But a spiritually-oriented group trumpting numerical goals - presumptous at this stage. Those kind of goals are more appropriate for an earthly-minded MBA pitching a business plan to investors.
