Unlike other competitive surfers, Courtney Conlogue and her family are sooo serious about education that homeschooling "was never an option" in their household. Courtney attends school in a real building with a real schedule and takes real subjects like marine biology and conceptual physics and learns real social skills. She is sooo responsible not to surf all day like those other teen-aged, catchin' a wave deschoolers who are still working through "Hooked on Phonics" when they aren't exclaiming "Party on, Dudes!" or renting "Blue Crush."
Suddenly this seems like a fine moment to plug Bethany Hamilton's new documentary.
This is also a fine time - since it features fishies - to link to a comic strip that Andrea posted. (Scroll down.)
