Colby Cosh, the conservative Canadian commentator, left the following "full comment" at the National Post:
"I still run into a lot of people, even friends who are generally good at staying abreast of social trends, who think that the idea of home-schooling one's children is a little bizarre -- a form of protest, basically, for religious creeps and misanthropes. If this is your impression, I would suggest that you either (a) ask a university recruiter about home-schooled students -- the top colleges in the U.S. are now willing to do everything short of sending their registrars into single combat to get these kids; or (b) keep one eye on the results of spelling and geography bees, where home-schooled children tend to be staggeringly overrepresented amongst the finalists."
