The Homeschooling Revolution

April 23, 2007

If I Call This a Witch Hunt, Does That Make Me a Sexist?

It was a risky move. Professor Nicholas Winset, of Emmanuel College in Boston, decided to draw upon the Blacksburg tragedy to create a teachable moment.

Armed with a mere magic marker, he made a point about self-defense by re-enacting an aspect of the Virginia tech shooting, and then segued into a lecture about how a widely-reported national catastrophe impacts the financial markets.

You can probably guess what happened next.

Thin-skinned students complained about the guns-n-markets presentation.

But that's not all.

The professor's employment at the college was terminated by the princessy administration.

There's more.

Mr. Winset was also barred - permanently - from setting foot on the campus.

Last, but not least.

He received the "you're fired" notice by courier.

The college states that "We challenge ourselves, faculty and students alike, to be rigorous in our pursuit of the truth as we explore and question, analyze and research."

Might be time to amend that claim, folks, and rename the school to Emmanuel Assisted Living Center for Young Adults.
