High-Price of Hubris: Teen Becomes Inmate No. 1187055

(Reader discretion is advised.)

There are similarities in this legal system nightmare to the one experienced by Matthew Bandy in that a career-advancing prosecutor ruined a hapless young man's life.

Genarlow Wilson was a star football player, homecoming king, and honor student, courted by scores of colleges. Unfortunately, the young man's "undisciplined adolescent libido," as Will Grigg would tactfully put it, experienced a head-on collision with a capricious Georgia law. Today, he's serving a 10-year prison sentence, in part, because he had the backbone to refuse to register as a sex offender.

Here's the Free Genarlow petition.

The legal stuff.

Update: Rick Sanchez's CNN jailhouse interview with Genarlow was broadcast tonight.
