The local rink, in our city, used to offer a 'homeschool skate day' during school hours. In New York, a couple, who own a skating rink, also decided to create and market a theme day. Unfortunately, "Christian skate" - slated for Sunday afternoons - offended someone. Now, the small business owners, with the wholesome intentions, have been targeted by this Blue State's vigilant anti-discriminocrats.
From the Newsday article: "But a complaint about an advertisement for the rink in a local weekly newspaper prompted a letter last week from the Pataki administration's Division of Human Rights. The letter said that by seeking Christian skaters, Skate Time was apparently discouraging non-Christian customers in violation of human rights law, according to Bernardo. Given a chance by the division to formally respond, Bernardo explained that the rink is merely playing Christian music. Bernardo said it was just another program, like teen night or family night."
This report notes that the Ulster Country Press, the newspaper that advertised the skating event's time, "is also under threat of legal action by the state."
