The Homeschooling Revolution

April 29, 2006

May Day or Mayday Activities

There's a backlash to the "Day Without Immigrants" or "Day Without an Illegal" or "Nothing Gringo" day. This writer proposes "Conservative Shopping Day" and recommends that secure-border/legal immigration proponents support law-abiding business owners.

Meanwhile, "We Hire Aliens" serves up a list of the businesses that unapologetically employ illegals. Dan Stein, of FAIR, has proposed ""Meatless Monday" in response to the meat-packing plants that will close, so that workers can take it to the streets. Go here and here. Former Colorado governor - Richard Lamm - briefly brings up the education issue - a sometimes sidebar in this debate.

Finally, Congressman Steve King (R-Iowa) shares his right-to-the-point thoughts on "Primero de Mayo."

Update: Counter rallies will be held on May 5 and 6.

P.S. If your homeschoolers (or you) prefer more conventional May Day pursuits to politicking, go here for springtime craft ideas.
