Beyond wasteful is this Sooner State budgetbuster: "The teacher retirement benefits system now holds unfunded debt of $7.42 billion dollars, which costs taxpayers over $140 million a year."
But no need for alarm. Watching public officials in this state totally ignore catastrophic fiscal problems can be a fun exercise. For instance, one genius is proposing a feel-good American history week, in the schools, emphasizing freedom. (Not to be confused with FREEDOM!!)
At least the upcoming generation of broke statists will be patriotic, broke statists. Unfortunately, the parents of these lads and lassies aren't exactly declaring their independence. The results of this poll are not atypical in Oklahoma.
