The Homeschooling Revolution

December 05, 2005

Falalala Lala La

'Tis the season to craft gingerbread houses, hang twinkly lights, produce ardent essays, grimace at tacky displays, and snap pix.

In the keyboard is mightier than the sword category: Four homeschoolers share their convictions about Christmas - Justin on trees; Mrs. Black on why she no longer celebrates the holiday; Steve Kellmeyer on Christ's Mass; Carmon on why she's not shy about enjoying the holiday. Anybody else?

In the digital camera is mightier ... sword: This disturbing pix was snapped by Brandon Dutcher. Students from a public elementary school in Oklahoma City placed the tree on the first floor of the state capitol building. The odd gesture makes sense. It is called the Oklahoma Education Lottery Commission, after all, and the Governor (Brad Henry) has affirmed, “We want the lottery to be a voluntary, entertaining way to raise money for public education ..." Reaping what you sow, Guv.

Digital camera ... sword, Take 2: Say "hello" to Heidi Dortignac, aspiring home scholar. This lil' bundle of joy is the youngest of 14. She brought her family to Wid III's basketball game on Saturday. Heidi is holding the bell we were all passing around to ring when the home team scored.

An early "Feliz Navidad," ladies and gents.
