The Homeschooling Revolution

So Very, Very Close

Wow! Samir Patel almost pulled it off. The Texas home scholar tied for second place at the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Second place! He misspelled "Roscian."

This year's Scripps champ is Anurag Kashyap, 13, who attends a middle school in California. The winning word at the exciting finale - "appoggiatura."

Way to go, Anurag, Samir, and to the rest of the gang who earned the opportunity to compete in the 78th annual.

Note: Sepia Mutiny blogged about the spelling bee, and there are a few comments about home education. (See 21 and 22.)

Update: Another Samir story.
