The Homeschooling Revolution

May 09, 2005

War is Peace; Insane is Sane

They're not telling counter-culturalists anything novel, but two posters' entries at the Backwater Report are worth a look. Both deal with edukashun.

First, Lee Shelton on parental responsibility and schooling. He writes: "Now, lest you think I’m being hard-nosed and insensitive, I will admit that I do see a role for government in education. I believe that the government should do everything in its power to protect the rights of parents to raise, nurture and educate their children as they see fit. Beyond that, the state is nothing more than a powerful hindrance to a child’s mental and spiritual growth."

Second, Brett McAtee comments about (among other issues) the "calm madness" of sending 5-year-olds on the yellow bus and the eagerness of 'civilized' society to pump active children full of Ritalin.

Keep up the stimulating blogging, fellas.
