The Homeschooling Revolution

April 29, 2005

Overkill

The Freeper Homeschool Ping List person (don't ask) sent this article. It features a mom, with a teen, who is in trouble with a state attorney named Charles Garnati.

In southern Illinois: "On Thursday, he (Garnati) announced at a press conference that he has charged Marion resident Kim Harris with permitting truancy, a Class C misdemeanor punishable up to 30 days in jail and a $500 fine. Harris is said to have willingly and knowingly allowed her 15-year-old son to be truant."

A top law enforcement official runs to the media over an issue that, all things considered, is trivial. Very fishy.

This, on the other hand, is an appropriate reason to stage a press conference. (Full disclosure: Marcos was a groomsman in my wedding party.)
