The Homeschooling Revolution

Golden Opportunity

Daryl found this article (about Rod Paige leaving the Ed Secretary job). Here's the part that raised the blood pressure of the not-easy-to-impress Delaware chemist:

"I think the White House kept Paige pretty much under wraps," said William Bennett, who served as education secretary under President Reagan, and is a leading proponent of home schooling. "He wanted to talk a lot more about school choice, but they pulled the reins pretty tight on him."

Daryl's comment: "What??? Bill Bennett is a leading proponent of homeschooling? Since when!? Bennett is a leading proponent of Bennett and K12, a for-profit corporation that occasionally sells curricula to home educators. They also sell a lot more of it to cyber charters."

Thanks to D.C. bringing up the subject of Bill, I now have a reason to link to a charming monologue about this leading light of the home education community ... Hit it, Jonny.
