Provocative essay by David Yeagley about how the Internet loosens inhibitions and why it brings out the beastly side in cyberscribes.
He opines: "But whatever the communication aids available, in the end, it is only an abstracted aspect of the personality which comes through. Indeed, because of the magnification of this limited aspect, it seems almost like a new dimension of the personality. People develop something in themselves that is often quite different and interesting to them. For some it’s Mr. Hyde. For other, it’s an angel."
Have you ever had the experience - after reading his/her/trans fiery e-screeds - of meeting the person in the flesh? And, they turned out to have a dud personality or acted like a pompous windbag? Eeek! On the other hand, a friend of mine (American) e-courted a Romanian gal he had never seen. They have now been (happily) married for two years.
