Thoughts on "Under God"

* The poster boy for American atheists gets his day in court. To me, Michael N. appears bitter, not principled, in his quest.

* The former Mrs. Newdow (Sandra Banning) is correct when she says she doesn't want her daughter known as the child who changed the Pledge. Would you want your son or daughter remembered for that legacy?

* Last week, when we attended a couple of political events in Oklahoma, the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. I enjoy this tradition, but I found it off-putting when several men shouted the "under God" part. I guess these are strange times when folks feel the need to loudly express themselves.

Update: The Ironman and I watched Newdow, et. al. on CNN. Wid says Dr. Michael's argument is right on. And, he wants Newdow to challenge the "indivisible" part, too. LOL. Meantime, Ken Starr, spokesperson for Ms. Banning, says that her daughter (age 9) is going on with her everyday life despite the publicity. Playing with friends, listening to Britney Spears ... Whoa! Starr favorably mentioning Spears? Surreal. Truly surreal.
