This is a UK pseudo-homeschooling story. A single parent wants guvmint money to finance her dyslexic son's home education. No cigar. However, the local education authority "was willing to pay for extra special teaching while Ashley was still attending school."
Ashley, who is 15, would like to work to earn money for a computer. (The teen uses special software that enables him to read.) He can't be employed because he is "legally below the working age."
Such mixed messages the State sends to parents. Too bad so few can revolt from the shackles of the system.
